One hundred and ninety golfers came out to support PANCREATIC CANCER Canada on Tuesday July 20th, at ClubLink's Emerald Hills. In addition to the great weather and fabulous food, participants enjoyed a variety of on-course contests including a chance to win two hole-in-one contests - a General Motors Car and a VIA RAIL 1st Class trip to Vancouver.
Mike Komisarek and Luca Capoti from the Toronto Maple Leafs participated in this years's classic along with several former Toronto Argonauts - CFL Hall of Fame Running Back Bill Symons, The Fan 590 Colour Analyst and former linebacker Peter Martin and Peter Gabriel. The Argo Thunder Cheerleaders posed with golfers in team photos and ran the fan favourite, Argo Football Toss. Argo Head coach Jim Barker joined our golfers for dinner and helped Peter Martin with the ever popular Argo trivia contest.
Pancreatic Cancer is a silent killer with no noticable symptoms, no early detection, no cure and little money devoted to research. It claims almost as many lives as breast cancer and has the poorest five-year survival rate of any cancer at five percent (5%). T hree out of four patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within the first year and majority within three to six months. PANCREATIC CANCER Canada is committed to stopping pancreatic cancer from being so fatal to so many. We need your financial support to sustain research into early detection and improved treatments and to attract new minds and talents to fight this disease.
A special thank you to our generous sponsors and participants; without your enthusiastic support, this tournament would not be possible!
Together, we CAN make a difference!
